XAVIER MARABOUT – THE DREAM OF THE WOLF PICASSO/TEX AVERY PARODY – PAINTING ON CANVAS 80 X 96 CM

Xavier Marabout was born in 1967 on a Friday the 13th! Lucky day because this child shows a real talent for drawing and painting very early on.
He had his first watercolor exhibition in 1984 at the Goguet gallery in Evreux.

However, at first he followed another path. In 1990, after scientific studies, he was a commercial engineer for a medical laboratory, without ceasing to paint and to organize private exhibitions.

In 2006, a change of course, he joined the Maison des Artistes. From that day on, he will only paint.
His work is essentially based on the realization of pictorial mashup. In other words, Marabout strips distant artistic universes to merge them together (artistic movement called Strip Art).

Thus, by borrowing from the comic strip of his childhood and from the painting of the great masters which fascinated him, he gradually developed a style where the line and the parody are omnipresent. Particularly in his series: Hergé – Hopper ou Marabout uses the voyeuristic and wait-and-see look of the American painter to imagine a sentimental and tumultuous life in Tintin. Or, in this other series: Tex Avery – Picasso where he organizes the meeting of the famous Libidinous Wolf and the women painted by the Spanish artist …
