This is the cold-crafting technique that most challenges the skill and delicacy of the master glass maker. The distinctive characteristic of Beaten glass is that its surface is “sculpted” by hand with a grinding wheel. This creates countless small and apparently irregular marks on the glass surface.
A pantheist designer, Sonia Pedrazzini searches for the soul of things and creates narratives shaped like objects. Eclectic and versatile by nature, Sonia loves to explore many different worlds, from the series-produced item to limited editions, from packaging to graphic design, from teaching to art direction, and up to the creation of products for industry, cosmetics and high perfumery. No less remarkable are her more experimental research projects that have led her over time to explore the possibilities of craftsmanship through a humanistic and poetic approach. Her references are the work of art, nature, and popular contemporary culture, which she has studied in depth through her exploration of contrasts, emphases, and the artistic forms generated by lights and shadows to create projects that combine contrasting elements and subtle aesthetical and functional short-circuits.
