Cécile Plaisance is a French photographer born in 1968.
Heavily influenced by popular culture, Pin-Up illustrations and Playboy photography, one of the artist’s first photographic series titled “Tribute to Newton” pays tribute to portrait photographer Helmut Newton. This series consists of black and white photographs of Barbie dolls dressed in white crinoline. The first intention of the artist is to provoke a reflection on the delicate and feminine sensuality of these dolls made of plastic. Her Nun in Paris are lenticular works whose image varies according to the angle of view.
