MEMPHIS MILANO ANIMAL CHAIR BY MASANORI UMEIDA (2020)

Born in Tokyo in 1941, Masanori Umeida obtained in 1962 a design diploma from the Kuwasama Institute in that city. He moved to Milan in 1967 and worked there for several design studios. Consultant at Olivetti, he meets Ettore Sottsass, one of the founders of Memphis Milano. He made several objects for this company. He will make himself famous with his boxing ring in which several designers from Momphis Milano will be photographed in 1981. He also produces several objects, including the robot Ginza.
He returned to Japan where he founded his design studio in 1986.
Masanori Umeida’s works are exhibited in several museums around the world.
He created this original limited Edition of 24 ANIMAL CHAIR in 2020 for an exhibition in Milano.
